PUBLIC PERFORMANCE RIGHTS (PPR) LICENSE EXPLAINED

WHAT IS A PPR LICENSE?

According to U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17, United States Code, Section 110), a public performance is any screening of a film that occurs outside of the home, or at any place where people are gathered who are not family members, such as in a school, library, auditorium, classroom or meeting room. You will need to purchase the PPR for the following uses: student club events, extracurricular sponsored events such as general lectures, film series, or for any use, in or outside of the classroom or within a business or company.

If you want to use WHEN I STUTTER in a classroom setting, for employee educational/training purposes and/or have it available in your library, the Public Performance Rights (PPR) is legally necessary.

A PPR LICENSE WILL ALLOW YOU TO:

  • Show the film during class to enrich the curriculum.
  • Show the film to your staff or faculty for training purposes.
  • Include the film in your physical library available for staff members, students, or faculty.
  • Hold screenings at your campus or institution.
  • All licenses are unlimited and in perpetuity. You can show the film as many times as you want, for as long as you want at your institution/organization

A PPR WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO:

  • Charge admission.
  • Hold screenings outside the organization/institution.
  • Broadcast on television, post online or any other unauthorized transmission.
  • Loan the film to other institutions/organizations.

  • Digital Subscription License (DSL) included for streaming in encrypted digital libraries.
  • An educational version of the film on Vimeo with embeddable links to all 42 chapters (for instructors only).
